Antiquity: the territory is occupied by the Bodiontics, an alpine Gallic people, before the Roman conquest. The valley of the Bléone then integrates into the Roman province of the Alpes-Maritimes.

around 1050: first known mention of the village as "Le Brusco", a name derived from brusc ("heather"), designating a place covered with heather.

XI éme in the 13th centuries: development of the castrum de Lauzière on the hill overlooking the village. The habitat was then grouped around the castle and its chapel. The Saint-Maurice church, preserved in the cemetery, dates from this period.

Late Middle Ages: the inhabitants gradually descend from the perched site to the valley, where the current village is formed. The lords of Lauzière leave a lasting mark on local history.

1790: Brusquet becomes a commune in the new department of Basses-Alpes (currently Alpes de Hautes Provence in the south-paca region - France).

1828 and 1854: ex-voto are consecrated after cholera episodes, testifying to the impact of epidemics of the nineteenth century on the local population.

1844: construction of the current parish church of Notre-Dame, in the heart of the village (on the plain).

XIX th century - early XX th century: golden age of pastoralism and transhumance. The herds coming from the Crau cross the region to reach the pastures of Blayeul, Estrop or Maurin.

XX th century: like many mountain towns, Brusquet experienced rural exodus and then a gradual revival thanks to its proximity to Digne-les-Bains.
