MOUNTAINS and VALLEYS of the ANDES ( south America )
Overview of some of the most well-known Amerindian civilizations
_________________
The Andes saw rise, well before the Inca Empire, a constellation of civilizations that shaped the cultural identity of the South American continent.

__________
Culture CARAL- between 3000 and 1800 BC
_________________
The oldest known, CARAL emerged around 3000 BC in the Supe Valley.
It included thirty major sites, and was contemporary with the builders of the pyramids of Egypt. Its pyramids, circular squares and thoughtful urban planning bear witness to a society that was clearly peaceful, based on trade, ritual music and a social organization that was surprisingly advanced for its time.

CHAVIN Culture – between 1500 and 200 BC
_________________
A few millennia later, the CHAVIN culture imposed a religious revolution. From its sanctuary of "Chavín de Huántar", it diffuses a powerful iconography mixing felines, snakes and hybrid beings. The priests, masters of underground architecture and acoustic effects, shape a spirituality that influences durably the central Andes (high valleys up to 3,050 m alt.) .

MOCHE Culture – between 100 BC and 700 AD
_________________
In the north of Peru, the MOCHE developed a hierarchical, warlike and deeply ritualized society. Their raw brick pyramids, their colorful frescoes and their strikingly realistic ceramics tell scenes of war, sacrifices and founding myths. Their mastery of metal, especially gold, reaches an exceptional refinement . (North coast of Peru).

NAZCA Culture – between 300 BC and 800 AD
_________________
Further south, the NAZCA inscribe in the desert gigantic geoglyphs visible only by flying over them. These lines, animal figures and geometric outlines remain a mystery:
- Astronomical calendar, ritual paths or offerings to deities related to water, their exact function still escapes researchers.
WARI culture – between 600 and 1000 Ap-J-C
_______ _________
In the highlands, the WARI (or HUARI) built one of the first centralized Andean states. Their capital, Huari, coordinates a network of administrative towns, roads and depots that prefigure the logistical efficiency of the Inca. Their influence extends over a vast region, unifying diverse populations under one authority.
TIWANAKU culture – between 500 and 1100 Ap-J-C
_______ _________
Further south, near Lake Titicaca, theTIWANAKU erect monumental temples with cyclopean blocks perfectly fitting. Their agriculture, based on terraced fields and ingenious hydraulic systems, makes it possible to feed a large population in a difficult environment (their capital is at an altitude of 3,850 m). Their religion, centered on solar and aquatic deities, radiates over the entire region.
_______ _________
These civilizations, each in their own way, have left a huge legacy for the CNIB:
- the art of taming extreme landscapes, mastery of engineering, complex religious traditions and a vision where man, earth and gods form an inseparable whole.
INCA EMPIRE – between 1300 and 1600 Ap - J-C
_______ _________
The INCA EMPIRE is therefore not an isolated creation, but the culmination of millennia of experiences, innovations and beliefs that have shaped one of the greatest civilizations in Andean and world history .
